Big changes are coming for about 600,000 Medicare Advantage members in 2027, as one of the major insurers plans targeted exits from certain plans. For those impacted, it’s important to remember: your Medicare eligibility remains secure. If your Medicare Advantage plan isn’t renewed and you don’t select a new one, you’ll generally transition back to Original Medicare. There’s a specific enrollment window—starting in early Q4 and running into mid-Q4—with plan changes going into effect in early Q1. If you choose to switch to Original Medicare, you’ll have a special Medigap window that opens 60 days before your coverage ends and closes no more than 63 days after. When reviewing your options, pay close attention to whether your doctors and hospitals are included, as well as formularies, copays, deductibles, and your maximum out-of-pocket costs. Sometimes a $0 premium brings hidden tradeoffs. Free and unbiased guidance is available through state programs, and checking your choices with Medicare or a trusted adviser can help prevent gaps in your coverage. My commitment has always been to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my Medicare members—I’m here to help you navigate these changes with care and clarity.
